African American and former soldier, Shom, is in love for the first time in his life. Despite coming out as a boy, Shom never allowed himself to entertain any male relationship, being unable to reconcile his faith with his homosexuality. Now, a year into his first male, live-in relationship, he must come to terms with the conflict between his faith and his sexuality.
While dealing with his own demons, Shom's internal conflict is exacerbated by the feigned acceptance of his religious mother which displays itself in increasingly overt ways. In the fight for his mother's approval and his boyfriend's love, Shom may be forced to choose one.
